Could Chadwick the Crab be real???
You be the judge!

Do you think Chadwick the Crab could be in our very own Chesapeake Bay?  Use what you know about crabs, and what you can discover from the internet to decide if Chadwick really could be a Chesapeake Bay Blue Crab.

Follow these steps to make an informed decision:

  • First, think about what you already know about Chesapeake Bay Blue Crabs.
  • Then, listen to the book Chadwick the Crab by Priscilla Cummings
  • Next, explore facts about real blue crabs with these Internet sites.
  • Use a Venn Diagram to record what you've found out.
  • Decide if Chadwick has more qualities of a real blue crab or of a fictional crab based on the information in your diagram.
  • Write a paragraph with a good topic sentence stating your decision, three supporting reasons for that decision, and a good concluding sentence which restates your findings.
